School Coordinator for the Placement Group
Stockholm – our capital city with millions of dreams, expectations, and ambitions. We work for everyone living here today and in the future. Now we are looking for you who want to think big, new, and differently with us – for the people of Stockholm.
The Hässelby-Vällingby district administration is located in western Stockholm, close to scenic areas and good transport links. We are about 1700 proud and dedicated employees who provide high-quality service to the residents of the district every day. Our work environment is characterized by collaboration, courage, and participation. Our strength lies in the diversity among residents, which is also reflected in our staff. Together we make a difference!
Welcome to us
The Placement Unit consists of three groups, each with its own group leader, working with children and young people placed outside their own homes.
Two of the groups work with children placed in foster homes. The third group, the Placement Group, works with children and young people placed in other care forms such as HVB homes and supported housing. The group consists of four social workers and one school coordinator.
Together we shape a social service that is based on what people need. To get closer to our clients and build trust, we continuously improve how we work. Do you want to help develop our operations to provide the best conditions for the children and young people placed outside their homes – apply to us!
We are now expanding with an additional school coordinator for the Placement Group.
We offer
With us, you will have a job where you can develop and work alongside engaged colleagues, and you will receive regular case supervision from your group leader. We have managers who are approachable and easy to reach. You will also receive support from the area's two method developers, and as a new employee, you will participate in a well-established introductory program to help you methodically integrate into our tasks and routines.
As an employee with us, you have:
- external supervision and continuous professional development
- flexible working hours as well as summer and winter working hours
- vacation exchange and access to the administration's gym
- wellness allowance (3000 SEK in 2025) and the opportunity to purchase annual passes to the city's swimming pools/gyms at a discount
- a network-based working method that utilizes the family's resources
As a school coordinator, you will participate in experience exchange/network meetings with other school coordinators in the city with support from the social administration and together with the education administration.
Your role
As a school coordinator, you work closely with the child/young person, guardians, and the responsible social worker. You work with authority in the areas concerning schooling and its prerequisites. You support the social worker in choosing placement options and focus on schooling. As a school coordinator, you gain an overview and knowledge of schools and functioning schooling in connection with the city’s own and contracted placement options. Furthermore, the school coordinator is involved in the development of care plans and drives the establishment and follow-up of implementation plans, writing about schooling in considerations and reassessments. The school coordinator focuses on school attendance and academic results. The school coordinator must maintain contact with the child/young person's school before, during, and after the placement and actively follow up on the schooling.
The school coordinator's tasks include
- Responsibility for and operational support to social workers in matters concerning schooling and prerequisites for schooling.
- Documentation regarding school issues directly in the child's/young person's case file.
- Preparations for school transfers according to the city's routines (SAMS), which includes ensuring that there is documentation regarding the child's schooling and that the new school receives the information available.
- Gathering the child’s/young person’s and guardians’ experiences of what has worked or not worked regarding schooling and ensuring that this information is communicated to those concerned.
- Continuously following the child's schooling.
- In connection with a home move, working to ensure that schooling is planned, starts up, and that the child/young person and guardians receive the support needed to maintain functioning schooling.
Your qualifications and experience
We are looking for someone who has:
- a degree in social work
- at least two years of experience working with authority concerning children and young people.
- training in and experience working with BBIC support.
- good knowledge of the Swedish language in both speech and writing.
It is an advantage if you have:
- experience working in schools.
- worked with placements within social services.
- experience working in institutions, supported housing, or with support for so-called treatment families.
- experience working as a school coordinator.
You should be proactive and have an easy time collaborating. You should be comfortable taking on a special role in a workgroup at the district administration where you drive the work forward. You are curious, want to develop and learn new things to make a difference. As a person, you are stable and appreciate collaborating with colleagues but are also self-driven when needed. It is important for you to always have the child's best interests in focus, and you place great emphasis on collaboration and alliance-building, both with the children and young people you work with, their networks, and other partners.
We place great importance on your personal suitability. Welcome with your application!
